Hi there, I’m César

…the composer and publisher of SOSMusic. I was born on the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico. And years ago, I survived a master’s degree in violin performance. I also survived the technical side of composing for films at Berklee Online. Phew!

Additionally, I’ve had the fortune of playing in some of the greatest halls in the world. My music has been around as well. I’m grateful. Really, as a creative person, it’s a privilege to see my works being performed thousands of miles away from their conception place.

20 Orchestras

On the adventurous side, I completed the challenging quest of experiencing a live performance from the world’s top 20 symphony orchestras.

Travel hacking helped with that. Plus, I was young, and sleeping on the floor was not so much of a problem :).

This articles inspired my quest.

Present

2022

Today, I live with my family in Germany, where I write method books for violinists and educational string orchestra music.

I also teach violin and composition at the Musikschule in Düren.

When I am not making music, playing Uno with my kids, or doing house chores, I mentor students online at The College of Stoic Philosophers.

The Mission

One Mission

I made it my mission to keep young string players as pumped about orchestra as I was when I was their age.

I remember playing the works of Elliot del Borgo, and how they impacted me as a young man. These works changed everything for me. A couple of my friends and I would even memorize our parts and go outside to play together. What a joy.

And that’s what I want my students–and your students–to feel; joy, love, motivation to get better, and bring them the excitement of playing an instruments and the camaraderie that comes from making music together.

I think that’s the mission of educational music. And that is certainly my primary focus when I compose.

Hopefully, you’ll find a little something in here for your group :)
