1. I am arranging Elgar’s Nimrod for multiple level string orchestra.
I’m dividing the string orchestra into many sections: violin 1, 2 and 3, violas 1 and 2, cellos 1 and 2 and double bass.
Many string orchestra teachers have complained that there aren’t many pieces covering many levels (beginners, intermediate, advanced).
This is an experiment, as always.
I will send you Nimrod as soon as it’s ready (right out of the oven).
2. I am writing an original piece for string orchestra called Totality.
It will include a comic like Medieval Warrior and Epic Angel. And I will create a bundle of all three pieces.
Totality will be about the total solar eclipse I experienced in August 2017 (USA).
I traveled many miles to experience one of the most incredible spectacles ever!
It was my dream since I started doing amateur astronomy in 2005.
The piece will tell the story of how our ancestors saw the eclipse and how different we see it today.
3. I am writing a book for violin on bow technique.
Like my Third Position Studies for Violin, this book will consist of original compositions that are meant to be exercises and etudes while providing interesting melodic and harmonic material to students.
My students have enjoyed the book and I look forward to seeing how this new book will improve their sound and overall bow technique.
Right now, I’m studying all 6 books of the Sevcik op.2 on bow technique. Cool Stuff!
That’s all for now. Until next post!
